Freight Movement - Service Design
Partner is a technology company providing an on-demand logistic solution for customer-facing businesses. The company realized that their Field Executives (vehicle owners contracting with the company) involved in transporting goods were able to execute only 5-6 orders during the 10 hour work day on average which inhibited them from catering to the demand.
Besides, Partner's clientele felt that they paid excess for small freights that hardly occupied half the space in the truck and thereby expected more economical solutions.
The goal, as Product Head, was to explore avenues to improve the operational efficiency and design a system where Partner can help their clients reduce their transportation cost.
Current System:
The current system was strewn with redundancies in operations flow and inhibited the field executives from carrying out more than six orders per day and did not provide flexibility in pricing for clients.

LCV - Light Commercial Vehicle that transports the freight.
Opportunity:
- For single orders, the space inside the vehicle (LCV) is mostly under-utilized (approx. 60% floor space used per order).
- 45% of the orders had to be transported more than 7km to drop location within city limits. Opportunity to club orders whose drop locations are on route.
- Potential to estimate the transportation cost by the floor space (sq. area) occupied inside the vehicle.

Newly Designed Service:
The user flow allows for data entry to calibrate the rough dimensions of the freight and feed it into the system.
